KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE IN THE DIGITAL ERA: FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES' SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON "DIGITAL CULTURE AND ITS IMPACT ON CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGE" CONCLUDES WITH GREAT SUCCESS
As digital transformation continues to reshape the world at an unprecedented pace, digital culture has evolved from an abstract concept into a driving force that profoundly influences every aspect of society, education, and cross-cultural exchange. Against this backdrop, the Faculty of Foreign Languages recently hosted a scientific conference entitled "Digital Culture and Its Impact on Cross-Cultural Exchange," creating a high-quality academic forum where scholars, researchers, and professionals came together to share insightful perspectives and present meaningful research that addresses the opportunities and challenges of the digital era.
The conference officially commenced with an inspiring opening address delivered by Ph.D. Candidate Tran Thi Phuong Thu, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, who highlighted the significance of digital culture in today's interconnected world and emphasized the vital role of interdisciplinary research in promoting sustainable cultural exchange. Following her remarks, the Organizing Committee held a formal ceremony to present flowers, commemorative gifts, and letters of appreciation to distinguished guests, industry partners, and benefactors. The gesture expressed the Faculty's sincere gratitude for their continued support and invaluable contributions to advancing academic excellence and fostering the sustainable development of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
One of the conference's most distinctive and engaging highlights was the Scientific Poster Exhibition, which provided a dynamic platform for showcasing innovative research on digital culture and cross-cultural exchange. Through visually compelling and academically rigorous presentations, the exhibition transformed research findings into accessible and interactive displays, encouraging meaningful dialogue among researchers, experts, lecturers, and students. More than a venue for presenting scholarly work, the poster exhibition fostered a vibrant environment for academic exchange, where participants explored emerging ideas, shared diverse perspectives, and engaged in thought-provoking discussions. This interactive format not only enhanced the dissemination of research outcomes but also strengthened collaboration and inspired future studies in the rapidly evolving fields of digital culture and intercultural communication.

The centerpiece of the conference was a series of three keynote presentations, each addressing timely and thought-provoking issues surrounding the impact of the digital era from diverse academic perspectives.
Intercultural Competence in Digital Education (Presenter: Dr. Kristy Jane R. Muegna)
Presentation Title: "Teachers' Openness to Diversity and Intercultural Competence in Technology-Mediated Education: A Convergent Parallel Mixed-Methods Study."
The presentation offered a comprehensive perspective on how digital technologies are reshaping teacher–student interactions in multicultural learning environments. Drawing on a convergent parallel mixed-methods approach, Dr. Muegna emphasized that beyond technological proficiency, educators' openness to diversity, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability have become essential competencies in fostering inclusive and effective digital education. Her research underscored the critical role of intercultural competence in preparing both educators and learners to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven world.

The speakers highlighted the immense potential of digital platforms, virtual experiences, and innovative communication technologies to broaden public access to traditional heritage while enhancing its visibility on the global stage. At the same time, they drew attention to the challenges posed by rapid globalization and digitalization, cautioning that technological advancement should not come at the expense of cultural identity. Their presentation emphasized the importance of leveraging digital transformation responsibly to ensure that traditional values and cultural authenticity remain preserved for future generations.

Minimalist Living Trends Among Urban Youth (Presenters: M.A. Hua Thi Huong & Student Tran Ngoc Phuong Lan)

This thought-provoking presentation explored one of the most relevant cultural trends of the digital age, examining how the traditional principles of Zen philosophy have evolved into the contemporary minimalist lifestyle embraced by urban youth in both Japan and Vietnam. Through a cross-cultural perspective, the presenters illustrated how digital environments have become powerful catalysts for the reinterpretation and transmission of cultural values across generations. The study highlighted the dynamic process of cultural adaptation, demonstrating how timeless Eastern philosophies continue to shape modern lifestyles while responding to the demands of an increasingly connected world. By linking tradition with contemporary digital culture, the presentation offered valuable insights into the evolving identities and lifestyle choices of today's young generation in Vietnam and Japan.

Following the presentations, the conference reached another highlight with an engaging Discussion and Q&A Session. The open and dynamic exchange between the speakers and participants created an inspiring academic atmosphere, fostering meaningful dialogue and the free flow of ideas. Thought-provoking questions and practical concerns raised by lecturers and students were addressed with insightful responses, enriching the discussion and encouraging deeper reflection on the conference themes. The event concluded with a Certificate Presentation Ceremony, recognizing the valuable contributions of the keynote speakers, followed by a group photo session that captured the memorable moments of the conference.
